On September 19, 1936 Lucille was born to the late Homer Williams and Lela Walden Williams in Chatham County, NC.

She was raised in North Durham where she met some of her closest friends like Louise Shine, Carolyn Ruffin, Mae Bass, Earl Taylor and Vivian McCoy just to name a few, that she loved until the very end.

Lucille was educated in the Durham public school system and graduated from Hillside High school in 1955.

She was joined in holy matrimony in 1959 to the late J.D Carrington.

Lucille worked all her life. She started at Mrs. Frazier’s restaurant at an early age followed by the B&G Grill on Fayetteville Street. She loved that place so much that around Christmas time she would put out a tip box to collect money to throw a party to celebrate all her friends who were like family, that visited her there. She loved to have a good time and more importantly to make sure everyone else did the same. One day she took her sister Joyce to fill out a job application at IBM and she ended up getting hired herself on the spot. She loved her job there as well and enjoyed going every day. She retired from IBM in December of 1997.

Her joys and pleasures were her family and many friends that GOD put in her path. She told her family on more than one occasion, “If I never go anywhere else, I’ve had a good time and a good life.”

The legacy of her season has left two loving sons Nathaniel (Nat) Williams of Durham NC and Reginald (Rick) Carrington of Columbus OH, a dedicated and faithful daughter Saundra (Bootsie) Carrington of Chapel Hill NC, a daughter at heart Paula Mangum and three bonus daughters Priscilla and Angela Carrington and Jackie Haley, a caring sister Joyce Williams Bell and a sister at heart Claretha Woody, one brother Warren Williams, a special niece Erica Williams, two aunts Mrs. Etta Walden of Waterbury Connecticut and Mrs. Catherine Williams of Baltimore Maryland, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Lucille is now welcomed into the gates of heaven with her mother, father, husband, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends standing by.

Thank you for your LOVE support and most importantly for your PRAYERS.

A private service is being held with the immediate family and a Memorial Service will follow in September for all family and friends.

We are so sad to learn of Lucille's passing. I have fond memories of her working at the B&G Grill along with the other
ladies and my Mother. God bless the family and our hearts go out to all of you.

To The Williams Family, We are so very sorry to hear about Lucille's homegoing. Even though we have been apart for many, many years, we still remember the good times we had with all of your family on Hazel Street in Durham. Lucille was one of my Mom's best friends growing up and she was shocked and hurt to learn of this news. We all are. Even though we can't be with you during this time, we hope you find comfort in knowing that she was still well loved and remembered by all of us. May your hearts and souls find peace in the coming days. Rest in Peace Lucille,
