Obituary for Tyrone Brandon "Red" Nelson Sr.

Tyrone B. Nelson, Sr. affectionately known as “Redd” was born on June 23, 1978 to Mrs. Rebecca Nelson in South Boston, Virginia. Tyrone was a best friend, son, people person, and had so much love to give.
Redd worked with his father Allen Jones in the funeral business until his health wouldn’t allow him to. Redd drove up and down the east coast picking up bodies for different funeral homes.
He was the seed to staring Change Path Ministry, when he said “Pops let’s give away clothes.” From that statement a ministry of helping people was born. He was known as Deacon Redd to many of the people he served while working in the ministry.
During a visit from his pastor Crystal Desvignes he stated that he was not giving up the fight. Redd kept his word and continued to fight; however, he answered the voice of God on April 11, 2020 at 4:04 p.m. and he said yes and transitioned from Labor to Rest.
Redd was preceded in death by his son Tyrone B. Nelson, Jr.
Redd leaves to cherish his memory his mother and father, Rebecca Nelson and Allen Jones; daughters, Takira Thorpe of Roxboro, NC, Zikeyona Thorpe of Timberlake, NC, Tationia Nelson of Wake Forest, NC, Talaya Nelson of Durham, NC; grandchild, Nyla Jones; sisters, Rozeta Nelson of Caty, NC and Takietha Nelson of Durham, NC; girlfriend and light of his life, Shamiera Grooms of Durham, NC; stepfather, Kenneth Lewis of Durham, NC; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
