Obituary for Tonya Alisa Melvin-Bryant (Melvin)

Tonya Alisa Melvin Bryant was born on March 9, 1967 in Newburgh, NY. She went home on
Thursday, December 31, 2020 in Atlanta with her daughter, Adria Bryant. Tonya spent many
years of her life educating eager students in the field of Computer Engineering and Information
Systems. Throughout her life she found joy in giving back to her community family and friends.
Tonya was not only a hardworking and ambitious intelligent woman; she was a loving and
selfless carrying woman of God.

Tonya’s yearning for knowledge allowed her to achieve many educational accomplishments.
She was a masters graduate of NC State University and taught for over 20 years she as an
educator of Computer Science at Coastal Carolina University. She also has her doctorate in
Educational/Instructional Technology. Upon the many accomplishment she achieved
throughout her life, Tonya also had an associate’s degree in Accounting that She used to help
the community and those in need with their taxes.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three children – Adria Bryant, Chadron Bryant, and Caleb Autry; her mother – Delores Melvin; her father – Thornie Melvin (Betty); one sister – Renita Butts; three brothers – Travis Melvin, Terry Griggs, and Timothy Melvin; a special aunt that was like a second mother – Carrie Bright (Willie); two special great aunts – Lula Harris and Elizabeth McKoy; three nieces – Shaughnessy Melvin, Taniiya Murphy, and Morgan Griggs; four nephews– Timothy Melvin Jr., Jalen Melvin, Tristan Griggs, and Adrian Murphy; aunts, uncles that loved her dearly and two special cousins, that were like brother and sister to her – Tamika Bright and Shawn Thornton; and a host of cousins,extended family, and friends.
