NC. On Monday Morning May 2, 2022, God gave him his wings to join his parents Creola and George Sr; two brothers George Atkins Jr and James Atkins; two sisters Mary (Atkins) Flowers and Beatrice Atkins, and his wife
Reba Atkins.
Richard Atkins aka (Shorty) attended Durham Public Schools. He worked at Duke Hospital as a contractor for many years, then he retired. Richard was a Diehard Duke fan. He loved to fish and cook that good old Soul Food. He loved to talk and fuss you out, but Richard had love for everyone. He never met a stranger and was known for doing his best for others. He had a good heart.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter Shannon Atkins; brothers Robert (Marie) Atkins and Bruce (Angela) Atkins; Sister-in-law Alma Atkins, Granddaughter Channetta Atkins, Grandson Kevin Simms, Great-Granddaughter Kenzi Atkins; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and friends.
