Obituary for Paula Marie Taylor
Paula Marie Taylor was born on December 25th, 1952 to Flonnie Pauline Middlebrooks and Edwin Henry Taylor; in Durham, North Carolina. Marie, as we fondly knew her, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022, at Duke University Hospital.
Marie grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and was a graduate of Frederick Douglass Senior High School. She returned to Durham in 1975 to care for her grandmother, Flonnie Rogers, and reunite with her family – the Rogers and Thompson. She was a proud graduate of Shaw University. She worked more than 40 years as a Ward Clerk at Durham Regional Hospital (later known as Duke University Medical Center).
Marie was a kind soul with a loud laugh and infectiously joyous personality. She was active in her church and community– especially, Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church and the Kings and Queens Club. Marie enjoyed jazz music, loved to dance, and hosted parties that drew others together.
Marie is survived by two sisters, Edwina Patricia Hardy and Vanessa Lynnette Phillips; two nieces, Carla Pauline Hardy and Vanessa Michelle Hall; one nephew, Charles Roger Hall; one great-niece, Teryelle Pauline Victorian; and a host of cousins and friends.
