Mr. Otis Howard Harvey, born as the third child to the union of Larry Harvey, Jr. and Ruby Lee Lewis Harvey on July 19, 1953, in Bladen County, North Carolina, was a beacon of strength and joy to all who knew him. After a life rich with love and service, Otis transitioned peacefully onDecember 2, 2023, in Durham, North Carolina.

A proud graduate of Durham High School's class of 1972, Otis's commitment to his community was unwavering. He was a devout member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, where he not only nourished his spirit but also served with heartfelt devotion in Sunday School, the Usher Board, and lifted his voice in praise within both the Male and Senior Choirs. Known for his impeccable style, Otis's love for fashionable suits, hats, gleaming shoes, and fine colognes was matched only by the warmth of his smile and the generosity of his spirit. He was the embodiment of STYLE, a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

Otis's heart was a treasure trove of devoted love for his family, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond, woven through countless visits and shared memories. His passion for music, culinary arts, and sports was only surpassed by the love he poured into every relationship. The distinctive and profound connections he fostered are his lasting legacy, irreplaceable and
cherished.

Otis has now joined his devout father, Larry Harvey Sr., in eternal rest.

He leaves behind a tapestry of memories for his precious mother, Ruby Lee Harvey, adoring wife, Norma Jean White Harvey; his beloved children, Jessica Pretty of Charlotte, NC, Frankie Grimes of Durham, NC, and Otis Harvey Jr. of Durham, NC; Godson, James McDonald of Durham, NC; his precious and dearly loved grandchildren, Khalik Zimmer of Charlotte, NC, Khali Powell of Durham, NC; his dear siblings, Floyd Harvey (Charlotte) of Winston Salem, NC, Ella M. Gentry (Ray) of Durham, NC, Rev. Larry E. Harvey (Wanda) of Raleigh, NC, Wilfred Harvey (Mae) of Winston Salem, NC, Gloria Harvey Burton (Alfred) of Durham, NC, and Patricia Harvey Vereen (Roderick) of Durham, NC; his special and close friend, Clinton “Tunka” D. Cozart (Johnette); and a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. As we honor Otis's memory, we embrace the essence of a life well-lived and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
