Mr. Norman Judge Daye, son of the late Willie Daye and Maggie Long Daye was born June 25, 1933. Many knew him and appreciated him in the community as “The Candy Man”. He departed his long wonderful life at Duke Medical Hospital on November 12, 2020.

After a short courtship Norman married the love of his life, Lessie Jones Daye on April 9, 1958. They were married 60 long wonderful years. He leaves to cherish his loving memory three brother-In-laws, James Scott, Jr. of Durham, NC; Coy Jones of Durham, NC and Earlie Thomas (Tony) Jones and his wife, Linda of Hillsborough, NC; a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends; and special family friend Michael Elliott, who was one of his care takers.

A special Thank You to Ms. Gwendolyn Butler who provided compassionate care and gave him special attention over the years after Lessie became ill.

As kids growing up and into adulthood, we always called him by his full name, Mr. Norman Daye. Daddy could tell if Mr Norman Daye had been by the house (if no one was home) because, he would put some crazy object of some kind by the back door, as kids we would always laugh at that. We enjoyed getting peppermint candy from him as kids but, as we got older he would slip a piece of candy to us at church in passing.
The Bullock Family will miss Mr. Norman Daye with his sweet spirit. Our heart weeps with your family at this sad time.

Mr Norman was a GOOD man. He never hesitated doing what he could to be supportive. My fondest memory of him is when he rang my doorbell on the morning of my son's funeral, to bring us a bag of peppermints. He had driven 12 miles. Who else would do that?
Good deeds, indeed!

Deacon Norman Daye was such a generous man. I could always count on him sliding a piece of candy into my hand whenever he would see me. We remember the family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Peggy, Clint Jr. and Brian Bullock
