Obituary for Ms. Betty S. Parker

Betty Sue Parker, daughter of the late Lois, “Bo” Whitted and Vera Parker Curtis was born on May 30, 1941 in Durham, North Carolina and departed this life on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Duke Hospital in Durham.

Betty was raised in the historical Walltown community where she attended Walltown Elementary School. She would later matriculate to the historic Laurinburg Institute for Girls in Laurinburg, North Carolina before venturing off to New York City to pursue better opportunities. Betty took on various occupations during her time in New York, but her true passion of caring for the elderly would prove to be her main calling. She would later return to her home town in Durham where she continued her passion of caring for the elderly. Her enduring love for her siblings, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews was undeniable and her pure heart would gain the love of many.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her older sisters - Inez M. Adams, Shirley F. Payton, Barbara D. Ferrell, Ethel Cameron, her adopted sisters - Alma Singletary and Nell Smith, her brothers - Harold E. Faulkner, Tres Whitted, John Lois Whitted, Tracy C. Faulkner, John E. Faulkner (Mubashir Akhtab), Billie E. “Billie Boy” Faulkner, and Dewey H. Faulkner, grandsons - Andre Thomas and Kentrell Hollins nieces - Yolanda Faulkner and Cheryl Adams, Jessica A. Payton, nephews - James Adams Jr., Roger Ferrell, Kyle Faulkner, Tracy Adams, and David Ferrell.

Betty is survived by her Children, Charles Faulkner and Tyrone Wallace (Shakelle) of Durham, NC; Four grandchildren, Kavon Wallace, Amanda Wallace, Shamaal Thomas, and Eric Hollins Jr all of Durham, her brother - Clyde Faulkner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her sister, Sallie Bell of Durham, her adopted sisters - Annie Vample and Betty Kelly of Durham, and a host of nieces and nephews.
