Obituary for Mildred Pheonix

Mildred Carol Whitted Phoenix was born April 10, 1927, in Orange County, North Carolina to Charles Thomas Whitted and Lucy Patterson Whitted. She departed this life on Thursday, May 2, 2019.
Sister Phoenix accepted Christ at an early age and joined Lipscomb Grove Baptist Church. Upon relocating to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she transferred her membership to Goodwin Memorial Baptist Church, where she remained active until her health failed.
Sister Phoenix was educated in the Orange County School System. She furthered her education at Durham Business College, in the field of stenography. After retiring from the United States Government, she worked part-time for the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
Sister Phoenix was united in Holy Matrimony to the late, Jerome Jose Phoenix, who passed away in January of this year. Although, they had no biological children, they cared for, and helped shape the lives of many children over the years.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and Lucy Whitted; and four brothers, Charlie, John, Clarence and James Whitted;
Sister Phoenix is survived by: special nieces, (Caregivers) LaVerne W. Howard (George) and Hilda W. Kirkpatrick (James); “sister” (cousin) Helen M. Peterson; sister-in-law, Joyce M. Whitted, and a host of other relatives and friends.
