Obituary for Mae B. Parker

We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, Dr. Mae B. Parker on March 13, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and state mandates, a public memorial service will be scheduled at a later time. In person visitation, as well, will not take place at this time.

She was preceded in death by her father, Deacon Jesse A. Reese and oldest child, Monica.

Dr. Parker was the daughter of Mother Erma H. Reese and the mother of four children: Pastor Kimberly (Kenny), E. Katrina, Jesse, and Katherine. She was also the grand-mother of two canine grandpups: Champ and Mendi.

Dr. Parker was a trailblazer that believed education was the key to life. She was one of the first African-Americans to teach in the Roanoke Rapids City Schools for nearly 25 years. After retiring as an administrator, she answered her call to the pastorate where she founded The Word in Action Worldwide Ministries in Weldon NC. During her 29 years as a pastor, she authored several books and guides on spiritual and biblical in-sight. Dr. Mae B. Parker was an exceptional, extraordinary, and innovative spiritual leader and advisor, affectionally loved and respected by many locally and worldwide.
