Obituary

Louise Blanche Hedspeth Prince was born on April 20,1930 to the late John Earlie Hedspeth, Sr. and Laura Blanche Roberts Hedspeth, in Philadelphia, PA. She peacefully departed this life with loved ones by her side, on Wednesday, October 28, 2020.

Louise received her education in Durham County Public Schools, graduating from Hillside High School in 1947. After graduating high school, she pursed and received her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
On September 3, 1948 Louise married Aldophus Prince Sr. and from that union two children, Alveria & Aldophus, Jr., were born, both who proceeded her in death along with her sister, Shirley Barbour; brother, John Hedspeth; sister- in-law Beverly Hedspeth and her grandson, Paul Whitney Pugh, Jr.

Louise worked at Duke Hospital as a Pediatric & Duke Outpatient Surgical Nurse for over 40 years. In 1978 she was induced into the Duke Quarter Century Club as a show of appreciation and recognition for her loyal service. In 1984 she was awarded the Presidential Certificate as a Top Performer at Duke University.
Louise was a long-time devoted and faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, in Durham NC, until her health declined. She was an active member, serving on multiple committees, included but not limited to Silver Set Ministry- Secretary where she also served on the Social Chair, Senior Choir-Secretary, Women’s Day Committee and Caring Evangelism participant, to name a few.

Her love for family and friends also kept her actively involved in Hillside Class of '47 activities and reunions. She also expressed her love for family by taking an active part in participating, coordinating, securing the sites, food and activities for Hedspeth-Suitt & Roberts Family reunions.

Louise leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her loss: sister, Jean Weeks of Seattle, WA; son-in law, Paul Pugh, Sr.; granddaughter, Paula Pugh-Parker (Randy), both of Durham, NC; granddaughter-in-law, Karen Pugh of McCleansville, NC; 4 great grandchildren, Le’Nisha Williams (Bryan) of Roxboro, NC, Jasmine Parker, of the home, Randy Parker, Jr. and Makaylah Parker, both of Durham, NC; 7 great great grandchildren, Zakiyah Williams, Bryan Williams, Jr., Maliyah Williams, Amiyah Williams, all of Roxboro, NC, Ishmael Pugh & Prince Pugh of McCleansville, NC and J’Saan Parker, of the home. Special ‘daughter’ Renee Stafford of Cary, NC and special long-time neighbor Edith Umstead & friend Jessie Smith and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
