Obituary for Lessie Daye

Lessie Jones born the youngest daughter of Earlie and Selria Lawson Jones on April 1, 1936 was an amazing woman. Simply beautiful inside and out.

Lessie received her education in Person County, NC, graduating from Person County High, Class of 1955. She later received certifications in Phlebotomy where she served over 38 years at the Duke Medical Center.

Lessie professed her love for Christ at an early age by joining New Red Mountain Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member as long as her health permitted. She served diligently on the Kitchen Committee, Usher Board, The Senior Choir, The Mass Choir, The Pastors Aide, and The Deaconess Board.

Lessie loved her family. She showed us. She told us. We’ll never forget the way she made us feel.

After a short courtship she married the love of her life, on April 9th, 1958, Norman Judge Daye. As a wife she teaches us lessons from Proverbs 31 and 1st Corinthians 13.

She was preceded in death by both parents, a brother Alfred Jones, three sisters Dora Lee J. Yancey (Doris), Georgia Mae L. Thompson, Augusta J. Daye, six brothers-in-law Bonnie Daye, Ed Daye, Caleb Daye, Reuben (Bill) Cooper, John Lyons, Otha Thompson and two sisters-in-law Gracie D. Scott and Tewiller H. Jones.

Left to cherish her memory
Her husband of 60 years Norman J Daye of the home, her sister Ella J Cooper of Hillsborough, NC, two brothers Coy Jones of Durham and Earlie T. (Tony) Jones (Linda) of Hillsborough, NC, brother-in-law James Scott of Durham, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
