Obituary for Leon Earl Jones

Leon known as “Bro” by family, was the second of three children born to Harvey and Elizabeth Jones in Durham, North Carolina on December 6, 1946. Mr. Jones joined Union Baptist Church at an early age. He was a graduate of the class of '65 of Hillside High School; and attended North Carolina College now "NCCU" immediately after high school. He received a medical technology certificate from Durham Technical College.

Leon was the care giver for both his mother and brother. He moved to the Wilmington, North Carolina area and later relocated to New York with his son Sedrick Myers where he spent his final days until his passing January 23, 2020.

He was a sharp dresser. He also carried his bible with him at all times, took great joy in caring for his cars, and was an avid lover of sports and old westerns.

Bro was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Elizabeth Jones, and brother, Kenneth W. Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory with kind thoughts, his sister Evelyn J. Hightower, three children (two sons & a daughter), eight grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, close cousins, and Carolyn Jean Farmer, and Sandra Lindsay and his life long best friend, George “Doc” Holiday, Jr.
