Mr. Larry Holeman, son of the late Lee and Florence Holeman, was born on June 17, 1943, in Durham, NC. He departed his life on June 5, 2022, at Duke Regional Hospital.

At an early age Larry joined Cedar Grove Church and served as a faithful member. Larry received his education in the Durham County Public School system and attended North Carolina Central University in 1962. He was employed by American Tobacco Company for over 20 years. After retiring he couldn’t stay still, and he would return to work for his beloved Durham Public Schools. He loved building relationships with the children and their families for 19 years in DPS.

On February 27, 1968 he was united in holy matrimony to Naomi Holeman to this union one daughter was born. The Holemans loved to travel with their close friends and family and the beach was one of Larry’s favorite vacations.

To know Larry was to understand that HE was by far the biggest Duke fan in town! You could hear him yelling and cheering them on all through the house on game day!

His favorite past times were working in his yard and watering his flowers and vegetables. Larry was known best for his juicy ripe tomatoes. He would leave tomatoes on porches of his friends and families all around Durham. Most of all, he adored his three grandchildren. They were his heart, and they are surely going to miss their “Papa”.
