Obituary for Deacon Larry Harvey, IV

Deacon Larry Harvey was born on January 12, 1931 in the Carvers Creek community of Council, NC to the late Larry Harvey and Anna Andrews Harvey. He peacefully departed his earthly body at his lovely home on Wilbon Street for his heavenly home in eternity on February 10, 2021.
Husband
Deacon Larry Harvey was united in holy matrimony to Ruby Lee Lewis on July 9, 1950 in Dillon, SC. They enjoyed building a life together as they raise six children starting in Bladen County NC and moving to Durham, NC and added one more baby to the bunch. Creating a caring home environment where everyone felt welcomed.

Father/Grandfather/Great-Grandfather
Deacon Larry Harvey was committed to training-up his children and grandchildren in the way of the Lord. He lived out his FAITH daily with life lessons he would share with his children and grandchildren. Encouraging them to live a life pleasing to God, with honesty and integrity at the root. His mother instilled in him to love God first and family always.

Deacon
Deacon Larry Harvey began his walk with the Lord as a young man and joined Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in 1963 with great zeal and a hunger for righteous. He became a spiritual mentor/father figure to many who loved his humble spirit. In early 2000, he started Noonday Prayer on Wednesdays and was a faithful leader until his health declined. He also, encouraged the start of the Media Ministry to share the Word with members who were sick and shut-in.

Deacon Larry Harvey leaves to cherish his lasting legacy of memories, his wife of 70 years, Ruby L. Harvey of Durham, NC; seven children, Floyd Harvey (Charlotte) of Winston-Salem, NC, Ella Gentry (Ray Alston) of Durham, NC, Otis Harvey (Norma) of Durham, NC, Larry E. Harvey, (Wanda) of Raleigh, NC, Wilfred Harvey (Mae) of Winston-Salem, NC, Gloria Burton (Alfred) of Durham, NC and Patricia Vereen (Roderick) of Durham, NC; a twin sister, Donnie H. Jackson of Washington and one brother, Bennett Harvey (Doris) of Elizabethtown, NC; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, two special daughters, Ms. Sharon Harvey and Rev. Marie Tapp, a special niece and nephew, who became like children, Dorothy & Clifton Autry, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and dear friends.
We ALL say, so-long to a Handsome Husband, Faithful Father, Loving Brother, Compassion Uncle, Grateful Grandfather and Successful Servant. We LOVE and ADORE you forever and know that you will continue to watch over us.
