Obituary for Juanita McLeod Hannah

Juanita McLeod Hannah “Moved on up a little Higher” to eternal rest on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Durham, North Carolina. Juanita was born February 10, 1937 in Robeson County to the late Margie Livingston and John McLeod.
Evangelist Hannah was an associate minister of Pilgrim Baptist Church where she preached the gospel, sang on the original praise team and praise team one. She was a homemaker and loved people. She sang with the Hallelujah Voices and her beautiful angelic voice could be heard singing all over Durham for many occasions. In the early 1980’s she recorded her first cassette with sales extending from North Carolina to New Jersey.
She had a passion for prayer and could be heard often times declaring “That devil is a liar!”. Her life was a true testimony of her faith and she had words of encouragement to all who came in contact with her.
Juanita was preceeded in death by her parents; daughter, Gloria A. Birman; sister, Cora McLeod Alexander; brothers, Robert McLeod, and James McLeod.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her loving husband of 28 years, Stephen Hannah; daughters, Brenda Goldston of Durham, NC, Linda Parreott of New Jersey, Delores Smith of New Jersey; sons, John E. Smith of Raleigh, NC and step-son Mark Smith of Alexandria, Virginia; Stephen's daughters, Natasha Hannah of Sanford, N.C. and Leteshia Hannah of Clayton, N.C.; Sister, Clara Boone of Durham, N.C; eighteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister in law, Val Hannah-Murphy (Jimmie); brother in law, Morris Hannah (Cynthia) both of Durham , NC; eight nieces; twelve nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
