Obituary for Jimmie Bullock Johnson
Jimmie Bullock Johnson, age 77 passed away on February 27, 2023 at Duke University Medical Center.
Jimmie was born on November 15, 1945 in Brewerville, Liberia. Jimmie graduated from Lott Carey Mission School in Liberia and continued his education at Shaw University and NCCU.
Jimmie was employed at IBM Corporation at RTP, Duke University, and several colleges throughout Central North Carolina. Before relocating to Durham NC, he was employed at several financial institutions in New York City.
In 1994 he married Gloria Phillips experienced 29 years of a blissful marriage. After a long career in corporate America and the education industry he retired in 2010. He enjoyed his retirement for several years before succumbing to health issues.
He maintained a positive attitude while facing several health challenges with remarkable courage and determination.
He is predeceased by his parents, Hettie Johnson and Oscar Johnson,Sr.,one brother, Matosha and one sister, Corinna.
He leaves to cherish his living memories his wife Gloria Johnson of Durham, NC, one sister-Minnie Benson of Lawrenceville, Ga, and one brother-Oscar Johnson, Jr.,(Jennie) of Durham, NC. He has a host of family and friends who will miss him tremendously.
