Obituary for Jacqueline Owens

Dr. Jacqueline Denise Arnold Owens was born on August 27, 1967 in Toledo, Ohio, to Eddie and Mary Clark Arnold. She transitioned from this earthly life on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
“Jackie” as she was affectionately called, was raised in Toledo, and received her elementary education from the Toledo Public Schools, and her secondary education from Toledo Catholic Schools. She graduated from college at the University of Toledo in 2009. Jackie did her post graduate studies at the University of Western Carolina where she earned her MA degree, and most recently her Doctorate in 2019.
As a strong advocate for education, she spent 20 years of her Professional Career in higher education. She worked as an academic Advisor at Central Piedmont Community College for many years. She also worked as a resource personnel advisor in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School System, and more recently at North Carolina Central University.
Jackie became active in church in Toledo at an early age and remained lovingly faithful to her Lord throughout her adulthood wherever she lived. She recently moved to Durham and joined Union Baptist Church in 2017 where she worked with the Backpack Ministry and was a committed and loved member of the Mid-Day bible study, as her health permitted. We knew her as being relatively quiet, private and easy going. She had strong spiritual beliefs which, though she suffered, she shared, and lived, blessing others throughout her illness. She will be missed.
Her children James and Jada were her heart. She loved them unconditionally and encouraged them to always trust and believe in God.
She leaves to cherish her memory her parents, Eddie and Mary Clark Arnold; her son, James Owens; her daughter, Jada Owens; her brother, Jerome Arnold; her sister, Jennifer Arnold; a host of other relatives and friends.
