Many people wonder what heaven is like. I imagine there's a golf course, a fishing pond and a place to pitch horseshoes. But it wouldn't be complete without a front porch filled with friends, good food and soul music. We may never be able to ask him but we can be sure this was the scene that welcomed Harry Lee Gray, Sr when the angels came to get him on Monday, April 20, 2020.
The son of William and Truly M. Gray, "Gray Ghost" as he was so lovingly known by family and loved ones, was born in Trinity, NC on April 9, 1941. Harry was fond of many things; golfing, fishing and pitching horseshoes. But his favorite past times included officiating sports through the High Point Parks and Recreation department and of course DJ'ing at local events.
Waiting for him at Heaven's Gate will be his daughters; Phyllis Fair and Renee Gray; parents, brothers James Gray and Thurman Gray and sisters Louise Cotton, Margaret Dowdy, Ethel Strickland, and Dorothy Jones; stepson, Steve Satterfield. His best friends, Dan and Harold will also be there to greet him.
Perhaps, those that will miss him most are his wife, Rebecca Suitt-Gray; his daughters; Anita Cunningham and Truly Gray; sons, Ricardo Gray (LeighAnn) and Harry Gray, Jr (Maggie). He also left a special part of him with his step-children, Anita S Torian and Anthony Satterfield (Rhonda); brother-in-law, James Suitte (Nay Ruth). Harry loved to tell stories and make us all laugh. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews will surely miss those times with him.
The angels in heaven are rejoicing by singing but there's one by the name of Harry Lee Gray, Sr that's sure to be asking...
"HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?!?1"
