Gloria Ann was born on May 22, 1960 in Durham County, to the union of the late Clea Bennett Burch and the late Rev. Onnie Mae Hackney Burch. She departed this life on September 8, 2021 after a long illness at the Carver Living facility in Durham, NC.
Gloria affectionally known as Ann to those close to her, was a person who loved her children and her family. She had an infectious laugh and would do what she could when she could for those in need. Ann enjoyed scaring people and then enjoyed laughing at the results of just how much she scared you. Once a child who was once afraid of her “shadow” was now playing jokes on scaring her siblings and friends. She loved the lord and enjoyed reading her bible, singing, cooking, and drawing. Her love of cooking was also coupled with her love for baking and seeing people enjoy the food she cooked.
She received her G.E.D. from Durham Technical Community College in Durham, and also a Certificate of Welding from DTCC. She worked as a Cashier for Church's Chicken and then later at a welding company in Durham. She was also privileged to give service in the Peace Corps.
Gloria was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and later joined the Assemblies of God where she enjoyed worshiping and singing the songs of Zion.
Gloria was preceded in death by two older brothers, Clea and Connie.
