Obituary for Garry Allen

Garry Leslie Allen aka "Big Al" was born on June 21,1960 to Dorothy O. Allen and the late Zebulon Hubbert. He passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020. He attended Durham Public Schools. He was employed at Duke Hospital for 10 years and he also worked for Torain's landscaping. He did security for several local stores in Durham. He later established Allen's Landscaping along with his brother Brian.

He was an entrepreneur that specializes in many different trades such as collecting and detailing cars, landscaping, housekeeping, security and his favorite was "dumpster diving".

He was a very kind, giving and hilarious individual. He loved to make people laugh with his charismatic personality and occasionally he would curse you out. He had an exquisite taste palette for various foods, especially seafood.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Allen; aunt, Martha Dunston; and two uncles, Thomas Allen and Vernon Allen Jr.

He leaves to cherish his mother Dorothy Allen; brothers, Toby Allen and Brian Allen (Monica); nieces, Dominique Burgess, Brianna Allen, and Simone Allen; nephews, Jamal Ransom and Brian Jackson; aunt, Edna Harrington; uncle, Edward Allen; cousin, Sherry Dunston-Wallace who was like a sister; best friends, Joe Mack, James Owens, Anthony Henderson and Karl Edggleton; and a host of other loving family and friends.
