Obituary for Ella L. Turrentine (Daye)

Born July 03, 1950, to the late Ecclesiastes and Addie Lula (Roberts) Daye in Durham North Carolina, Ella D. Turrentine touched the lives of everyone she met. Ella was one of five daughters; the late Mary (Clint)Turner, Janie (Lacy)Rush, Hattie (Libert)Hargraves, and Helen Nelson and three brothers Charles (Norma) Daye, Arthur Daye and James Daye.
Ella graduated from University of North Carolina school of Dentistry as a Dental Assistant. This time in school made her a huge fan of University of North Carolina sports. You could always find her watching them play. She was an excellent seamstress who owned and operated “Stiches by Daye”. Ella was a fun-loving person and never met a stranger. She was extremely compassionate and would help anyone in need. She loved to read and play word games making her feared competitor in Words with Friends. She assisted in caring for the matriarch of our family Mary Hart. She enjoyed hosting family functions and kept records of all the family births and deaths. She loved being with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed her great-grandchildren.
Ella, 69, died unexpectedly on December 05,2019 at Duke University Hospital. Her life will forever be cherished in the lives and memories of her daughters Paula Sanders, Valerie (Wilbert)Hopkins, and Michelle (Maurice) Roberson, and seven grandchildren Markisha Harris, Jasmine (Bobby) Carmon, Maurice Roberson II, Jessica Sanders, Mark Harris II, Nia (Bernard) Granville, and Joshua Sanders. As well as her four great grandchildren Aaliyah Carmon, Kaliyah Carmon, Melilah Harris, and Brayden Carmon. Ella is also survived by a host of other family members and friends that loved her very much.
Ella left us with the mantra; always do your best and you can do anything you set your mind to.
