Obituary for Mrs. Donna Marie Leacock

Donna Leacock was born December 1, 1965 in Newark, NJ. Into a loving family, her nickname was” Donut” growing up. She was blessed with a loving mother, father, grandparents, and five siblings. She had many pleasant memories of family reunions, birthdays, holidays, ending with the family tradition of last tag. She graduated from Weequahic high school in 1981.

God had a had a calling on her life, she received the grace gift of Jesus Christ under Pastor Smith and Sister Lorrie Smith at Citadel House of Prayer in 1986. There she built life long bonds with her Citadel family and grew strongly in Christ under Pastor Smiths’ leadership. She evangelized in Juvenile detention facilities, sang in the choir, and enjoyed fellowship with the saints. After two years at Citadel, she met her forever husband and soulmate of almost 33 years Christopher Leacock while acting in a skit. On September 10, 1988 they were married and the family began to grow.

In 1992 her family moved to North Carolina to raise her gems Joshua, Jamie, and Jessica Leacock. Donna was a homemaker and actively supportive mother. Cheering on her children in many sports and activities like track, swimming, softball, dance, and soccer. She enjoyed reading books, watching Jeopardy, playing UNO, screaming for the Dallas Cowboys but spending quality time with her family during vacations and at home brought her so much joy.

Donna started her journey in Citadel house of prayer, joined Friendship House of Prayer after moving to NC under the leadership of Pastor Estoria and Annie Bynum. At God’s appointed time her family joined Glad Tidings worship ministries under the leadership of Apostle Donnie and Prophet Terrie Parker where she remained for over 20 years until her transition to heaven.

In the midst of her trials, she was strong in faith and fought until the end. She was determined to press her way in spite of how she felt. God always strengthened her to do what needed to be done, her anthem of hope was “It will not always be like this”, strong words of encouragement that helped and continues to help her family through hard times and struggles to this day.

Donna was proceeded in death her father Willie Riley, mother Doris Riley, as well as her brothers Billy Riley and David Riley also her nephew Jalil Stokes.

She’s survived by her husband Pastor Chris Leacock her gems Joshua, Jamie, Jessica Leacock and her grandchildren Valencia and Iyana Leacock. Siblings Russell Riley, Anna Simpson, Yvonne Stokes. Nieces and Nephews: Kiaron Rivers, Khadijah Riley-Davis, Vern Riley, Tariq Riley, Lateef Stokes, Jamal Stokes; Along with many other family members and loved ones.

She loved God, his word, and teaching Gods’ word to his people. Before marriage Pastor Chris and Teacher Donna Leacock claimed the scripture Psalms 128 to build their life together on, the last verse reads:
Psalms 128: 6 - Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel’.
And by the Grace of God she was able to experience the final verse, her grandchildren Valencia and Iyana Leacock. Her Cupcake and Her Sunshine.
