Obituary for Derek Tyrek Lee

OBITUARY

Derek Tyrek Lee was born on August 2,1977 to Donna Lee and Nathaniel Mouzon in the Bronx, New York where attended school until the 10th grade. At the age of 15 Derek then moved to Tulsa, OK to live with his Aunty Traci where he completed his education. Soon after he finished school, he relocated to North Carolina to be closer to his mother and his younger brother Michael. It was there that he met the love of his life Quwana Thorpe they became inseparable and married on December 28, 2004.
From that union they had three beautiful children, two daughters Aulani 17, Autumn 16 and a son August 7 years old. Derek embodied an independent spirit, strength, loyalty, an abundance of love with no tolerance for nonsense and always spoke his mind.
Derek was an awesome husband and dad. He was an extremely hard worker with a strong passion for cooking and he was great at it. He had a group text with his Aunties to send pictures of what he was cooking, from the prep to the finish. Derek had a great relationship with his friends and co-workers and left a positive impact on everyone he met. The relationship with his three nieces Sha’mia, Mickayla and Malayah was so special that they called him Uncle Daddy. He was an avid sports fan but his favorite teams were the Atlanta Braves and the New England Patriots with no exceptions.
Derek leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Quwana T. Lee, two daughters Aulani Nirel Lee and Autumn Brielle Lee, one son August Brady Lee, mother Donna Talley, Father, Nathaniel Mouzon, brother Michael Talley, 1 sister, grandmother Josie Greene, mother-in-law Wanda Davis, father-in-law Walter Davis, Aunties Joy Lee, Traci Banks, Kim (Earl) Johnson, Charlene (Willie) Williams, Denise, Shamyaka (Stanley)Mitchell, three brothers-in-law Dequan (Toya) Thorpe, Lorenzo(Niyah)Vaughan and Walter Davis Jr. two sisters-in-law Avanta (Craig)Thorpe, Shaquoya Vaughan, 7 nieces, 8 nephews, a hosts of cousins and an abundance of friends.
Derek lives on always on our mind and forever in our hearts.
