Obituary for Delores Melvin (Bordeaux)

Delores Bordeaux Melvin was born September 21, 1946 in Bladen County, NC to the late John Perry Bordeaux and Carrie McKoy. She moved at the age of 13 to New Burgh, NY. There she graduated from New Burgh Free Academy.

In 1971 she moved back North Carolina. She earned her Associates Degree from Orange County Community College. She was employed by as a Senior Technical Specialist at IBM for over 48 years.

Delores was a giving soul that opened her home and heart to many throughout her life. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you'd know that she'd give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back. Delores was known to the community as "Ma Melvin." Owner of the Pineapple Mondays headquarters, Ma Melvin loved dancing and putting smiles on everyone's faces. Be careful though or she'd come after you with the red bat! :)

Delores is preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Mae Bordeaux; her father, John Perry Bordeaux; her brother, Perry Bordeaux and daughter, Tonya Melvin-Bryant.

Delores is survived by; two children, Travis Melvin of the home and Timothy (Jural) Melvin; one sister: Carrie (Willie) Bright; two stepchildren, Terry Griggs and Renita Butts; ten grandchildren, Adria Bryant, Chadron Bryant, Caleb Autry, Shaughnessey Melvin, Jalen Melvin, Timothy Allen Melvin, Taniiya Murphy, Shayla Thornton, and Adrian Murphy; one niece and nephew, Tamika Bright and Shawn Thornton, a host other family, friends along with the family and friends of Pineapple Mondays.
