Obituary for Mr. Brian Maurice Edwards

Brian Maurice Edwards (affectionately known as Moe) was born in Durham NC on October 14, 1966 to the late John Wilson Edwards and Eloise Freeman Edwards. He transitioned from his earthly home on Saturday, June 26, at Select Specialty Hospital, Durham, NC.

Brian was a proud graduate of the 1984 class of Hillside High School. He attended A&T State University and was a loyal Aggie until his passing. He never let you forget it even though he was employed by the Aggie’s opposition. He loved the Eagles but the Aggies were his pride and joy.
Brian was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying practically all sports. He should have been a sports analyst because he could call all the plays, quote statistics with all confidence and nobody dared to question him.
He started calling plays at NCCU’s football games when he was around 9 years old. He and his mother went to all the football games.

He was co-owner of JE Enterprises along with his father and also worked as Property Manager for L&S Properties. In 2013 he joined the staff of the NCCU Department of Transportation as Property Security Officer. Brian never met a stranger. He loved his job and communicating with the NCCU family and students.

Brian was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church. He served as a junior usher, sang in the Young Adult Choir and attended Sunday School during his youth. He later served as a member of the John Wilson Edwards Social Justice Ministry.
