Obituary for Betty Cozart

On Thursday July 16, 2020, our beloved "Betty Sue Cozart" quietly slipped into eternal rest.

"Betty" was the daughter of the late Lillie O. Curtis and George Cozart Sr. She was born June 5, 1961 in Granville County. Betty dedicated her life to Christ at an early age.

Betty was educated in Granville County School System and Graduated from South Granville High School then moving to Durham.

Later on joining Cox Memorial Freewill Baptist Church where she served in the choir.

She worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken for many years where she grew fond of cooking. She adored her friends and cherished her family. Whatever room she entered her presence filled it with a personality larger than life. She was a true Duke Blue Devils fan.

Her mother, Lillie O. Curtis; father, George Cozart Sr.; two sisters, Beulah Cozart and Ola Mae Williams Matthews and three brothers, Ben Cozart Sr., George Cozart Jr., and Elton Lee Cozart all preceded Betty in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory a; "Precious "and "Dear" daughter, Brittany Richardson; son, Bentrail Richardson; granddaughter, Ashtynn Marie Richardson; lifelong companion, Johnnie Coley all of Durham, NC ; two brothers, Walter Cozart (Corrinda) of Sanford, N.C and John Willis (Kimberly) of Butner, N.C.; devoted nieces, Sharita and Bonita Richardson of Durham, NC; aunt, Essie Mae Sturdivant, of South Hill VA; great aunt; Mattie Thorpe of Durham, NC; brother-in-law, Jerry Matthews; sister-in-law, Emma Cozart and a host of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
