Alberta Myles was born to the late Gertha Lee Myles on September 09, 1960 in Dunn North Carolina the oldest of six siblings. She transitioned this life on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Duke Hospital amongst her family.
Alberta graduated from Hillside High School in Durham NC. She worked 34 years at Duke Regional Hospital as an instrument technician. She loved to travel, burn CD’s, and listen to music.
After moving to Durham, Alberta joined the Nation of Islam in the 1960’s and served in Muhammad Mosque #34 under the late Minister Kenneth Muhammad. Alberta stood for the freedom, justice and equality of Black people all her life. She was known to be an outspoken and faithful sister, mother, teacher, and friend. She will be greatly missed by us all.
She left behind a significant other James Covington, one daughter Jessica Bailey (Lavel), one granddaughter Chanya Wyman, five siblings; Conrade Muhammad (Nancy), Carl Lee McCormick (Porchia), Carolyn McCormick, Antar Abdul, Kirra Tshaye. She also leaves behind two aunts Lucleta Adams and Darlene Surles as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
